Message from the President
Dr. Muhammad Owais Fazal
President, Punjab Medical College Alumni Association
Dear Members,
The Punjab Medical College Alumni Association stands at an important stage of its journey. This is a time not only to reflect on how far we have come, but also to set clear goals for the future. While PMCAA may not have a very long history compared to some global alumni bodies, its impact on alumni engagement, education, and service has been both meaningful and steadily growing.
Punjab Medical College has produced thousands of doctors who are serving across Pakistan and around the world. However, the true strength of an alumni association lies not only in numbers, but in its ability to remain connected, relevant, and responsive to the needs of its members and students. This realization has guided PMCAA since its establishment and continues to shape our direction today.
One of our core priorities has always been the support of young doctors and medical students, particularly those who face limitations in access to training, mentorship, and international exposure. Through alumni-led teaching programs, workshops, clinical attachments, and observership opportunities, PMCAA has worked to bridge these gaps and create pathways for professional growth.
Recent years have also taught us the importance of adaptability. During the COVID-19 pandemic, PMCAA facilitated online academic meetings and clinical discussions, enabling physicians to collaborate and learn despite physical barriers. These experiences have shown us that digital platforms can complement traditional learning and will remain an important part of our educational strategy moving forward.
At the same time, we strongly believe that medicine is a human-centered profession. No virtual platform can replace hands-on training, personal mentorship, and the shared experiences that build strong professional bonds. Therefore, PMCAA remains committed to organizing in-person academic activities, reunions, and community-focused initiatives whenever possible.
Beyond professional development, PMCAA takes pride in its philanthropic efforts, including student scholarships, Qarz-e-Hasna programs, and support for institutional development at Punjab Medical College. These initiatives reflect our collective responsibility toward our alma mater and society at large.
As President, I firmly believe that the future of PMCAA depends on active participation from its members. I encourage alumni across all regions to stay engaged, contribute their expertise, and help guide the association toward greater unity, impact, and sustainability.
Together, with shared values and collective vision, we can strengthen PMCAA as a platform of excellence, compassion, and service for generations to come.
With warm regards,
Dr. Muhammad Owais Fazal
